New Factory and Centre of Excellence for Cleantech Coatings and Hydrogen Technology
Diffusion Alloys has announced that it is expanding its presence at PD Ports Teesport Commerce Park.
Diffusion Alloys has occupied its site on Teesport Commerce Park since 2003 and established itself as a global leader in diffusion coatings, which protect against metal degradation at high temperatures, for large components.
Over the next 10-20 years, Diffusion Alloys anticipates significant demand for coatings for clean technologies, not least for large scale hydrogen production and has decided to expand its capabilities and headquarter its centre for excellence in Middlesbrough.
The investment of over £1.5m will result in a new factory that will provide over 700m2 of additional processing capability and is targeted to be operational by early 2022. The expansion will see the creation of 20 new skilled jobs at the site over the next two years.
The investment is being supported by a grant from Tees Valley Combined Authority.
“We are delighted to have made the decision to invest and build a new factory at Teesport Commerce Park. The new factory and centre of excellence site will enable the company to support the build out of hydrogen generation technology from within the UK. The decision is a testimony to our dedicated and hard-working staff in Middlesbrough who have been instrumental in making this investment possible” said Lisa Randall, Managing Director of Diffusion Alloys.
